Widow Legal Meaning and Definition

Here is a simplified definition of the legal term Widow.

Widow (noun)

A widow is a woman who was married but her husband died. If she hasn't gotten married to a new person, we still call her a widow. Sometimes, even if her husband who passed away was an ex-husband, we might still call her a widow if she hasn't re-married again. This term is often used in law when talking about who will get the things owned by the husband when he dies.
